John A. Davis

John, founder and chairman of Brand New View, is Professor of Marketing and Chair of Marketing Communication at Emerson College. He is the best selling author of several books on marketing and branding. His latest book, Competitive Success: How Branding Adds Value  (2010 John Wiley & Sons), discusses how companies can create sustained long-term success by using a new brand paradigm, based on more than 200 global companies he has researched. John’s other books include: The Olympic Games Effect: How Sports Marketing Builds Strong Brands (2008 John Wiley & Sons and a business best seller), Measuring Marketing (business best seller), Magic Numbers for Sales Management, and Magic Numbers for Consumer Marketing (each also published by John Wiley & Sons). John is also a contributing author to Fast Track to Success-Marketing (2009 FT Prentice Hall).

Previously, he was Professor of Marketing Practice at Singapore Management University (SMU), where he received the ‘Most Inspiring/Distinguished Teacher Award’ in 2007 and the Dean’s Teaching Honors from 2004-2009. He was also Director of SMU’s Centre for Marketing Excellence. 

John regularly consults with leading global companies and is a highly sought-after speaker at select conferences including: YPOs, American Marketing Association, Global Brand Forum, and the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). He has founded two award-winning companies and has led marketing teams at Nike, Informix and Transamerica.  

He has been interviewed by MSNBC, BBCNews, Bloomberg, CNBC, ChannelNewsAsia, Bravo!, Prime Time Morning, Asia TV-Hong Kong, HCMC HTV7-Vietnam, National Public Radio (NPR-US) and 938Live!, and has broadcast a 24 segment show about marketing. He has regularly appeared in print interviews with The Business Times, the Straits Times, PEAK Magazine, The Business Journal, Business to Business Magazine, Singapore Marketer, Marketing Magazine, and TodayNews. He co-hosts the podcast series, ‘LeadershipMatters’ with SMU professor Michael Netzley. John also writes two blogs: a Brand blog and an Issues  blog. 

John and his family now live in Boston after many years in Singapore. Their dog Grinner, a Jack Russell Terrier, has learned that it is much colder in Boston than Singapore, so she spends most of her time underneath a blanket (unless it is time to eat).
